Dental implants are a natural looking way to replace teeth that are missing or damaged. They look and function like real teeth, last for decades, and are a great tool for improving smiles.
The cosmetic dental work involved with implants is a two-step process. The first step is to have an oral surgeon or periodontist insert a titanium screw, or “implant”, into the jawbone. This will serve as the tooth’s “root.” After the initial surgery, it is necessary for this area to heal for three to six months. During this time, the bone actually fuses to the implant, anchoring it in a manner similar to a real tooth root.
The second step is to insert the porcelain tooth and adhere it to the titanium screw. The replacement tooth is created in a dental lab. Dr. Siachos will then fit the tooth into your mouth so that it looks like it has always been a part of your smile. You’ll be able to floss and chew on this implant crown just like a natural tooth!
