Inlays & Onlays
Dental inlays and onlays are a cosmetic option somewhere in between fillings and crowns. They can be made from a number of hard materials, including porcelain and gold. Inlays and onlays are used when decay is extensive and bonding or filling would be inadequate.
An inlay fits inside the tooth and is cemented into place. An onlay is cemented inside the tooth, like an inlay, but it also reaches out to cover a cusp or part of a tooth that needs more support. Dr. Siachos prefers to use porcelain inlays because of the ability of today’s labs to recreate the exact shape and color of a your teeth. In most cases, once this process is complete, you won’t even be able to tell which tooth has been restored.
